Nokia’s 6600 fold brings a new dimension to phone design by upgrading the familiar flip phone design with spectacular results. Typically the front of a flip phone will feature some uninspired design and will look very boring when not in use. Thankfully the 6600 fold rewrites the unwritten rule that a flip phone can only be attractive on the inside.
The glossy black outside of the phone is simply decorated by a set of numbers displaying the time. This austere accent is the only piece of information and gives the phone a serious atmosphere. Once opened a brilliant OLED screen is revealed. At 2.13 inches this screen is very large and does a great job of accurately displaying color and ensuring that text and graphics are sharp and detailed.
This phone’s keypad is a joy to use because it has keys that respond very well when pressed. Navigation around the phone’s menu is made easy with Nokia’s singular user interface.
The other features on this phone live up to the style and design of the phone which is a good thing because there is a lot to live up to. A MicroSD slot lets you store a variety of files using separate cards up to 4 Gigabytes. EDGE and 3G connectivity ensure that this phone is on the cutting-edge of technology and won’t leave you with poor reception.
Finally there is a very nice 2 Megapixel camera that’s takes picture at a 1600 by 1200 resolution and can also take video. With up to 300 hours of stand-by time and 4 hours of talk time, this is a phone that sets the standard by which all other flip phones will be judged.
